What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness involving deep relaxation with focused attention. This alternate state of consciousness enhances the capacity to respond to suggestion. During hypnosis, an individual is said to have heightened focus and concentration. People go in and out of this natural state of mind every day.
What can hypnosis do for me?
Hypnosis uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to reach a heightened state of awareness that is also called trance. While in a hypnotic trance, new perceptions can be attained that provide lasting changes that gives the client space to exist in and a sense of freedom.
Does hypnosis work?
It is often misunderstood and not widely available. However, medical research continues to lead us how and when hypnosis can be used. A recent review published in the journal Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews has defined hypnosis as a kind of top-down regulation of conscious awareness, a process in which “mental representations override physiology, perceptions, and behavior.”
How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis works by triggering a natural state of trance in the mind. This state of mind bypasses what is called “The Critical Factor” which is a part of the mind that hold account of all things in our consciousness. It is the judge and doubting aspect of our consciousness that protects the ego. If anything is suggested during hypnosis that could be perceived as a threat, “The Critical Factor” will engage and bring the hypnotized person out of hypnosis. Making hypnosis a completely safe, voluntary, and natural process.
